Sufyān ibn ʻUyaynah narrated to us that ʻAmr ibn Dīnār heard Jābir say, “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ sent us out; we were three hundred horsemen and our leader was Abū ʻUbaydah ibn al-Jarrāḥ. We stayed on the coast until our provisions ran out, so that we had to eat khabaṭ. Then the sea cast ashore a whale, and we lived on it for half a month until we had restored our strength. Abū ʻUbaydah took one of its ribs and set it up , then he sought out the tallest camel and it passed beneath it. Before that a man had slaughtered three camels, then three more, then three more, and then Abū ʻUbaydah forbade him to slaughter any more.” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 41

Sufyān ibn ʻUyaynah narrated to us that ʻAmr ibn Dīnār heard Jābir ibn ʻAbdullāh say, “When the ‘Say: He has power to send punishment upon you from above you’ was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said, ‘I seek refuge in Your Face.’ When the words ‘or from beneath your feet’ were revealed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said, ‘I seek refuge in Your Face.’ And when the words ‘or to confound you in factions and make you taste the violence of one another’ were revealed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ said, ‘This is lighter,’ or perhaps he said, ‘This is easier.’” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 42

Sufyān ibn ʻUyaynah narrated to us that ʻAmr ibn Dīnār said, “Some people discussed the case of a man who enters the state of iḥrām for ʻUmrah and then exits it: may he go in to his wife before performing saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah? So I asked Jābir ibn ʻAbdullāh and he replied, ‘No, not until he performs saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah.’ I also asked ʻAbdullāh ibn ʻUmar and he said, ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ came and made seven circuits of the Sacred House, then prayed two rakʿahs behind Maqām Ibrāhīm, and performed saʿy between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah.’ Then ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar recited the verse, ‘Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) you have an excellent example.’” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 43
