Jābir (رضي الله عنه) reported: “A boy was born to a man among us and he named him al-Qāsim. We said to the man: ‘We shall not call you by the kunyā of Abū al-Qāsim, nor shall we bring joy to your eye .’ The man went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Name your son ʿAbd al-Raḥmān.’” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 26
