حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفٌ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَبِي قَدْ صَلَّى خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سِتَّ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً، وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَعُمَرَ، وَعُثْمَانَ، فَقُلْتُ: أَكَانُوا يَقْنُتُونَ؟ قَالَ: «لَا، أَيْ بُنَيَّ، مُحْدَثٌ

Abū Mālik [Saʿd ibn Ṭāriq ibn Ashyam] reported: My father had prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ when he was sixteen years old, and behind Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, and ʿUthmān. I asked him, “Did they recite the qunūt supplication?” He said, “No, my son, it is an innovation.”. Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 329
