ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Awfā (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ﷺ on a journey during the month of Ramaḍān. When the sun set, he ﷺ said, “Dismount, so-and-so, and mix us some sawīq.” The man said, “O Messenger of Allah, it is still daylight.” He ﷺ said, “Dismount and mix it.” He did so and handed it to him, and he ﷺ drank. Having drunk, he ﷺ gestured with his hand toward the west and said, “When the sun sets here, and night comes from there, then the fasting person has broken his fast.” Reference: Musnad Aḥmad 225
