It was narrated that Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave us the choice, and we chose him, and he did not consider it as something (i.e., an effective divorce)."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ خَيَّرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَاخْتَرْنَاهُ . فَلَمْ نَرَهُ شَيْئًا .
